Nothing Suprises Me Anymore

So here's what happened today.
If you don't know, I currently attend college at New Jersey City University.
And I commute (big whooptee doo ). So everyday I drive to school, and its normally the same thing everyday. Turnpike to 1&9 to Kennedy. Now if you don't know, 1&9 is only 2 lanes. So if theres ever any problem, it causes for major delays (car accident, truck breaking down, construction, etc). And i've encountered pretty much all of it, atleast thats what I thought until today.

A lot of 18 wheeler trucks take the 1&9, cause its the easiest commute into NY and Jersey City, so I'm driving down the 1&9 and I come to the usual traffic halt. So i'm tryna look ahead to see what it is today, but couldn't cause it was too far away. So I keep approaching, and low and behold. A 18 wheeler truck tryna make a right turn onto the 1&9 at the intersection ran up on the curb and knocked over the fuck street light post and broke down! Don't believe me huh?

Thank God for Camera phones... now granted I wanted to take more pics, but turns out my Sidekick memory is full and I was still driving as I took this pic (lmao, I know)... but here it is:

Haha, as you can clearly see, the truck has ran over the street light post, and what you can't see in the picture is the streetlight was literally 2 inches above the ground. I couldn't believe it, but hey like I said... nothing suprises me anymore.

Thats it for today... ill be back tomorrow with some more weekly
The throwback joint of the day comes from my favorite rapper of all times, and one of my favorite songs. Sit back and enjoy! Hype Williams directed this video, check out the cinematography and try and figure out what movie this video is based on. (AMERICAN GANGSTER COMING SOON, movie and Hov's album)

Tour de New York???

What's up yall, new day & a new update... Yesterday while browsing in the world wide net, I came across this very very VERY interesting video. This is probably one of the coolest videos I have seen in a looooooooong time. Its a group of bikers riding around New York City carelessly during lots of traffic and pedistrians on the road. They nearly come close to being ran over by the cars in Times Square, and also come close to running over people crossing the street. Not only is it just cool to watch, but its hilarious visualizing this happening. Not to meniton its a GREAT execrise and very environmentally friendly (no gas was wasted bitches). Nonetheless, here's the video... enjoy!

3 Updates In One Day... I'm On A Roll!

I'm gonna have a new little feature called the hot item of the week. Whether its sneakers, an item of clothing, jewelry, book, movie, etc...

So for this week, the hot item of the week is a winter leather jacket from the Japanese based brand "Swagger" . Definitely a fresh pick up, you can cop it at their botique online shop
http://www.choiceisyours.jp/. Cop it now:

The throwback of the day comes from 112, a nice smooth melody featuring one of the greatest of all time and a rapper turned pastor turned rapper again, lol!:

112 ft. Puff Daddy, Notorious B.I.G., and Mase - "Only You"

The Most Influential Man Of The 20th Century!

Whether you care to disagree or agree, the fact remains Michael Jordan is one of the greatest to ever do it. From basketball to sneakers to fashion to chairty, you name it and he has probably done it (He even retired from basketball to play baseball, we all know how that turned out).
There isn't much explaining to do, just watch these videos and realize why I feel Michael Jordan is the most influential person of the 20th Century!

My favorite commercial ever...

Top 10 Jordan Dunks!

FYI: Coke vs Water

Wassup yall... Here for another update on the marvelous blog known as Respect Our Hustle. I'm trying to grow the fan-base here, so if you guys don't mind, spread the word on the blog. Bookmark, tell your friends, all the etc.'s... it would really be appreciated (special shout-out to my homegirl Tasha, WATTUP!)
Now, as far as today's update...I'm going to take an unconventional route and do something new. I'm all about keeping this blog interesting and having you guys experience new things.

So for today I'm gonna do an update on Coke vs. Water (no, not that kinda coke you fiends!)... I found this on another blog, and I found it rather informing and interesting, and I know you will too... It includes some rather dope things you can do with Coke too...so for today, here is the F.Y.I. of the week, enjoy!

THE FACTS!

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.(Likely applies to half the world population.)
#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weakthat it is mistaken for hunger.
#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.
#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangsfor almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University ofWashington study.
#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses ofwater a day could significantly ease back and joint painfor up to 80% of sufferers.
#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-termmemory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing onthe computer screen or on a printed page.
#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk ofcolon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breastcancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to developbladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of wateryou should drink every day

COKE!

#1. In many states the highway patrol carriestwo gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood fromthe highway after a car accident.
#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Cokeand it will be gone in two days.
#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into thetoilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removesstains from vitreous china.
#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of ReynoldsWrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Poura can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubbleaway the corrosion.
#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Colato the rusted bolt for several minutes.
#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola intothe baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowingthe drippings to mixwith the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
#8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Cokeinto the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and runthrough a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosengrease stains. It will also clean road haze from yourwindshield.

F.Y.I.!

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoricacid also leaches calcium from bones and is a majorcontributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) thecommercial trucks must use a hazardous Material placecards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to cleanengines of the trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?or Coke?
So next time you go to drink Coke... will you really end up drinking it?

HIP HOP HOORAAAY... HOOOOO, HEY, HOOOO!

Another day... another update.
I thought I'd hit yall with something different today and update with a questionaire/survey about Hip Hop. So low and behold, here it is!

Favorite MC of all time? I can't just decide on one, so like Jay-Z once said in a song "Argue all day about who's the best MC's/Jay-Z, Biggie, or Nas"
Favorite MC's now? Hmm... Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe, Joe Budden, Cassidy, and Kanye
Favorite Hip Hop Group?: Without a doubt, A Tribe Called Quest... they just do it for me
Most Slept On MC?: Joe Budden. Doesn't get the props he deserves
Most Over Rated MC?: Lol, I don't even need to think twice. Lil' Wayne
Guilty Pleasure?: So I've been thinkin for the last 15 minutes who my guilty pleasure (i dont know if thats a good or bad thing), and I can't think of who... so I'm just gonna say the "Crank Dat" song is a song that I like despite how unlike my style it is.
Biggest Flop?: Haha... lol? Album wise or Artist wise? - Whats Mims and Yung Berg currently doing?
Best Producer of all time?: Hmmm... I gotta go with Premo on this one!
Best Producer now?: Just Blaze! My favorite of all time, and I'm also getting into J-Dillas work
Most Slept on Producer?: Alchemist
Most Over Rated Producer?: SWIZZY!!!
Favorite Song of all time?: You don't really expect me to decide on ONE song do you? lol
Best Summer Jam?: Never been to one, so I can't pick one on that basis
Most Timeless MC?: Flip a coin on Jay-Z or Nas both been in it since late 80s, 90s, to present day...
MC you feel dumbest about once liking?: I got to admit, I liked Lil' Wayne Post Carter 1 all the way up to the Carter 2... then we all know what happened, yikes
MC you wish you knew about sooner?: Hmmm, Common
Album of all time?: TOUGH... toss up between Midnight Marauders, Blueprint, and Late Registration
Favorite Album now?: Graduation
Best Story-teller of all time?: RICK THE RULER... Notorious B.I.G., and Hovito!
Best Battle Rapper?: Im a little ignorant when it comes to the full history of battle rap- so I'm gonna go off of what I know from 2002 to present day and say Mook is my favorte battle rapper
Best Battle?: Jay vs Nas
Best Hip Hop Label?: Def Jam I guess
Best on-stage MC?: Jay never dissapoints, and currently Lupe is in his footsteps... he puts on an aweosme live show
Favorite Female MC?: *crickets*... err, next?
Wackest Rapper: Well besides most of the southern rappers... theres also Weezy, Mims, Yung Berg, etc... that crowd
Best Mixtape MC?: Saigon!
Best Mixtape DJ?: The Old DJ Clue used to shut it down!
The thing you DISLIKE most about hip hop?: Let me break it down real quick. The thing I DISLIKE about hip hop is the fact that their is lack of originality. If you go on myspace, you have tons and tons of average cats that all sound exactly the same. Everyone needs a certain type of "gimmick" to sell themselves or a quick fix. They no longer care about longevity. As long as they have that one hit, they feel they did what they had to do. I feel their is a huge gap b/w the old school type of rappers and the new school rappers... of course that doesn't go for everyone... but for the most part its the same regurgitated bullshit that is constantly being fed to us the consumers. It is time to step it up!
Why do you LOVE hip hop?:
The culture... I fell in love with hip hop because it was so unpredictable. So much versatlity, from backback rap, to hardcore gangsta rap, to the soulful shit, to whatever kind of fix you needed to hear at a certain time. Regardless, I will always love this culture even if I'm gonna be living off of the old school music.

Now for the throwback joint of the day:

Trip To SoHo!

What's popping with the populaton yall? Your boy Reed on the check-in once again... Its been a hectic week for me, so I finally get to do an update when I really should be studying for my Micro-Economics exam. My last week has consisted of studying, studying, or maybe the lack there of studying... I've had 3 exams so far (1 on Wednesday, 2 on Thursday...) and I got one more tomorrow, along with a paper that I just finished typing. Thats college for ya...

Anyway, yestereday I decided to take a break and hit up SoHo (the shopping district of NYC) with my boy Gianni McFly. Although the whether in the tri-state area has been pretty shitty the last couple of days (real cold... I'm talkin 45 degrees status) I decided that yesterday would be a good day to enjoy NY life.

Me and McFly hit up all different locations in SoHo/L.E.S. area... we started the day off to "The Reed Space". Now, not only did I love this store because of its name (Reed Space? how awesome is that), but because it was just an awesome fuckin store. I've had many trips to SoHo, but never wound up going over to The Reed Space. The layout of the botique was beautiful (one of the best I've personally seen)... and they carry brands from Nike, Swagger, The Hundreds, Nike SB, 10 Deep, Crooks & Castles, Mighty Healthy, Clae, and etc. You can check them out here: http://thereedspace.com/

Next stop was ALife... one of my particular favorite brands. Now if you never been to Alife, you need to know that its 1 store broken into 2. The first one is Alife the store that carries Alife personal goodies such as their shirts, sweaters, sneakers, and hats... then you have the Alife Rivington Club, which sells a lot of the most recent sneakers and the high end vintage kicks you won't see everyday. Real dope shop, worth checking out.

From there we started heading up where most of all the shops are located. We stopped by Supreme and Clientele (located of Lafayette)... then to Uniqlo department store (one of my new favorite stores... awesome place!). Then from there we went to A Busy Workshop (the REAL bathing ape store). Then to Stussy and Adidas Garage Store (dope music always playing like usual...can't go wrong with Adidas). We also made a quick stop into Kid Robot, checked out the newest toys and gear they have in there.

McFly and I started heading back to the car, but we spotted this real small store that referred us to a real dope spot called "World Store". On Chrystie Street lays a hidden little store that is rarely ever mentioned, but is real dope. Different kind of look to it, and the owner is real cool.

But what trip to SoHo is complete without stopping by the mecca of sneakers: Flight Club?
Now if you didn't know, Flight Club is renovating their old place... so they are currently at a new spot on Nassau St. (out of the SoHo area), after much mapquesting and being stuck in traffic, me and McFly made it to the store just in time b4 closing (we got there 6:50, and they closed at 7...). We stayed in there a lil longer after closing cause G McFly was trying on different kicks and deciding which he wanted to buy. Anyway thats enough talking for today... out of my many trips to SoHo, this was probably my favorite trip. Check out the flicks below and also check out the throwback of the day: Peace and love yall...

Siidekiickiin IT!

If you didn't know, i am a die hard sidekick fan *lol* once I got the sidekick 2 i was in love. I would be on it at work, walkin down the street, driving, eating, in the shower, and would wake up in the middle of the night to pee and IM a friend *lol* After it broke i decided to go with the "T-mobile Dash" did i like it u ask.... YES.. for the 1st 2 weeks that is. The aim was slow... and in order for it to work to its potential, i had to go out and buy a memory card *costing a total of 70 bucks* after a while i HAD to go bak to my first love. Altho i still have a sidekick 2 to this day *due to its much more durable outside rather then the 3* i am contemplating getting the all new "Sidekick LX" or the "Sidekick Slide" as seen below.

The Sidekick LX has the same swivel high resolution screen but a thinner sleeker body. It also includes music player *mp3, aac, wma* bluetooth, nmyspace live 24/7, e-mail, 1.3 megapixel and a WAY better flash. Phone comes in blue for some and brown for others. The Sidekick LX will be available for current T-mobile customers on October 17th with a 2 year agreement for $299. It will be available for new customers on October 24th.

The S
idekick Slide debuts a more pocket-friendly design. It comes in a black finish with deep purple accents. It's slightly smaller then the LX and it has a slide up screen rather then the swivel around screen. Both sidekicks have very similar features. The phone will be available on Nov. 17th for $199 with a 2 year agreement.
